A short term furnished rental property was recently sold by Surry Hills real estate agent Barry Liddle who founded the Ozway Realty platform. Inside the apartment was around $15,000 worth of furniture, appliances and everything required for a family to get established off the streets and into a home of their own.

Barry started the community project “Agents Help Homeless” in August this year whilst doing the Self Expression and Leadership Programme lead by Goranka Trifkovic from Landmark Worldwide.

Mr Liddle has pledged to raise $1,000,000 for the “Agents Help Homeless” community project in partnership with Property Savers and Wesley Mission to help more people have a home. Barry believes everyone deserves a safe place to call home, not just those with the money and income to purchase and lease.

Life can sometimes deal unexpected events and this can cause a trauma for anyone.

Michael Mikits

The purchaser requested vacant possession so all the furniture had to be sold and moved. Rather than endure the expense and hassle of organising this Mr Liddle approached the vendor Mr Michael Mikits to share his community project “Agents Help Homeless”. Mr Mikits, a successful Brisbane businessman who operates a Mailplus business didn’t hesitate to donate all the items inside his apartment valued at around $15,000 to the cause.

Mr Liddle then contacted Bhramar Gupta and Carrie Cochrane from Wesley Mission who were very excited about the generous donation. Mr Rob Seaton who is Wesley Missions head of operations identified some of our community members in need of these items to help them get established in their own home prior to Christmas.

Citymove Removalists

Rebecca and Janine from Wesley Mission’s operations team arranged to have everything packed up in preparation for removal.

James Russel from Citymove provided a heavily discounted removal truck and 3 men to move everything and store it till the receiving family takes possession. It’s like an early Christmas present for this family.

This act of generosity demonstrates how real estate agents are helping homeless with the whole community supporting each other to take care of those less fortunate.

When Barry was asked what he thinks about this donation and those involved he stated “it’s absolutely inspiring to see how generous our community is and just how much everyone really wants to help those less fortunate or those going through a rough period of their life”. He went in to say, “now another family in our community has a safe place to call home for Christmas, thank you to everyone involved in making this happen, each and every one of you are amazing human beings”.
